The State of Montana issues bids for passenger cars and light-duty trucks (up to 1 ton) twice per model year (spring and fall) depending on the demand. Bids are issued once per model year for patrol vehicles.
The State will solicit bids from vendors and notify local governments and tribal governments of the results. Local governments and tribal governments may include their vehicle purchases along with the State's order by submitting the proper request forms by the established deadlines.
Vehicle orders for the requisition time schedule must be placed with the State Procurement Bureau. For complete information, please contact the State Procurement Bureau at (406) 444-2575 or spb@mt.gov.
As a reminder, supply chain shortages and post-pandemic demand have made buying a vehicle expensive and difficult. We have received updates that manufacturers could push out delivery times up to 12 months, and prices are expected to increase by 23%-39%. These delivery dates and increases are constantly changing, and until the light-duty solicitation closes, we won't know the timelines or pricing.
